Ive seen some people play Reckless Impulse instead, which might be better than being able to cast it pre-combat to trigger prowess or find a burn spell to kill a blocker seems nice, but ultimately I think the difference between one-mana versus two-mana is too significant
Apparently he has had an errata making him a merfolk in addition to his types which increases his usefulness in fish style archetypes although most of those cards reside in the B cube
