Dating from the latter half of the 19th century this Turkish domestic lightweight cotton was probably originally used as a Boha wrapping cloth or shawl. From Kandilli, an Asian suburb of Istanbul which formally had a significant Greek population where cotton printing went on and by which term theses prints are popularly known.
