Bloody Ploughman Size:M25 in the late 1920sA Scottish eating apple, probably originating from Carse of Gowrie, Perthshire. Sweet and juicy with pale flesh. Deep red in colour, heavily ribbed. A strong, hardy tree that ripens in September and will store until November. Legend has it that a ploughman was caught stealing a bag of apples and was shot. His wife then threw the apples on the compost heap which grew into this tree.
